Vietnam’s Best-Selling Motorcycle Models: What 2025 and H1 2026 Data Actually Show
Which motorcycles sell most in Vietnam? See the verified 2025 and H1 2026 model signals, data gaps, and a practical parts-supplier demand checklist.
Summary
- No public, comparable H1 2026 model-by-model ranking was found; VAMM’s 1,367,552 first-half sales cover only its five members.
- VinFast says its multi-variant Evo family sold more than 250,000 units in Vietnam in 2025; that is not a single-model-variant figure.
- Vision and Wave Alpha were reported as Honda Vietnam’s two leading models for the fiscal year ended March 2026, but their unit sales were not disclosed.
- Parts suppliers should use these names to guide fitment and channel research, then validate installed-base and service demand locally.
There is no defensible public top-ten ranking of motorcycle models sold in Vietnam for H1 2026. The Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM) reports 1,367,552 domestic sales by its five members in January–June 2026, but it does not publish sales by model. For 2025, VinFast says its Evo electric-scooter family sold more than 250,000 units in Vietnam. A separate report identifies Honda Vision and Wave Alpha as Honda’s leading models in the fiscal year ended March 2026, without unit counts. Those figures use different product definitions and periods, so they cannot be stacked into one league table.
For overseas parts suppliers, the useful question is which vehicle families deserve fitment research and channel validation. This guide separates published sales from plausible demand signals, then shows how to turn them into a parts-category shortlist.
What H1 2026 sales data actually show
VAMM reports 729,121 member sales in Q1 2026 and 638,431 in Q2. Their sum is 1,367,552 for the first half. The Q2 release says these are domestic sell-out volumes for Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, Suzuki and SYM. Its long list of model names describes what members offer; it is not a model-by-model sales table. VinFast and other nonmembers are outside this series.
For calendar 2025, VAMM reported 2,615,057 member sales. That is a useful baseline for the member group, but it is not a complete national market total. Honda’s own fiscal-year result covers April 2025 to March 2026, another period. Neither source supplies the Honda model volumes needed to rank Vision against Wave Alpha—or either against Evo.
Evo is a multi-variant model family; Vision and Wave Alpha are reported Honda leaders without unit counts. Association and brand totals provide scale, not model ranks.
| Evidence item | Reported sales or status | Period and scope | What it cannot tell us |
|---|---|---|---|
| VinFast Evo family | More than 250,000 units | Calendar 2025; VinFast-reported Vietnam customer sales across Evo variants | A single-variant figure or verified rank against every gasoline model |
| Honda Vision | One of Honda’s two best-selling models, according to a secondary report | Honda fiscal year ended 31 March 2026 | Unit sales, exact rank, or whole-market rank |
| Honda Wave Alpha | One of Honda’s two best-selling models, according to the same report | Honda fiscal year ended 31 March 2026 | Unit sales, exact rank, or whole-market rank |
| VAMM members | 1,367,552 motorcycles (Q1 729,121; Q2 638,431) | H1 2026 domestic sell-out by five members | Model sales or a total including VinFast |
| VAMM members | 2,615,057 motorcycles | Calendar 2025 domestic sell-out by five members | Model sales or a full national total |
| VinFast electric scooters | 406,453 units | Calendar 2025; company-reported Vietnam sales | Sales of every individual VinFast model |
The model names suppliers can track
VinFast Evo: a quantified electric-scooter family
VinFast’s 2025 Vietnam sales release says more than 250,000 Evo-family scooters reached customers, out of 406,453 electric scooters sold by the company in Vietnam that year. VinFast calls Evo its best-selling electric motorcycle line. The number covers multiple Evo variants, not one specification or model year. Suppliers should obtain variant-level fitment and service data before translating that headline into parts demand.
Honda Vision and Wave Alpha: reported leaders without unit sales
A Thanh Nien Viet report carried by CafeF names Vision and Wave Alpha as Honda Vietnam’s two best-selling models in the fiscal year ended 31 March 2026. The report gives neither model’s unit count nor an order between them. Honda’s own FY2026 business release confirms nearly 2.3 million motorcycle sales across its lineup but does not break them down by nameplate. Treat Vision and Wave Alpha as priority research candidates, not a proven nationwide first and second place.
Vision is a scooter and Wave Alpha an underbone motorcycle. That distinction matters for a supplier’s application catalogue, service-parts mix, packaging and dealer education. A part that fits one generation or variant should not be assumed to fit the entire nameplate.
Why a ‘top ten’ chart would be misleading
- Different periods: VinFast’s Evo figure is calendar 2025; the Honda model description is for a fiscal year ending March 2026; VAMM’s newest total is H1 2026.
- Different units of analysis: Evo is a family of variants, Vision and Wave Alpha are nameplates, and VAMM publishes a five-brand aggregate.
- Different market coverage: VAMM excludes VinFast; brand sales releases are not a shared vehicle-registration dataset. A large brand total does not establish any individual model’s rank.
A supplier should also distinguish new sales from vehicles already on the road. Replacement demand is shaped by the installed fleet, mileage, age, usage, service intervals and parts accessibility. One strong launch year may create future service demand, but the timing and value must be tested locally.
Turn these signals into a supplier shortlist
- Start with a vehicle–part fitment map. Split each candidate by model year, engine or motor specification, battery configuration, trim and original part number. Keep a clear record of unverified applications.
- Estimate service demand, not just sales. For each part family, combine a local installed-base estimate with replacement interval, vehicle usage, likely channel and realistic penetration assumptions. Treat the result as a scenario until dealer and workshop evidence supports it.
- Check channel access. OEM supply, authorized aftersales and the independent aftermarket have different buying processes. Confirm whether the intended part can be sold and supported through the chosen route.
- Pilot with a narrow catalogue. Ask dealers and repair shops about the actual models they service, recurring failures, stockouts, fitment errors and acceptable documentation. Expand only after sell-through and warranty feedback are visible.

What to watch next
VAMM says its next quarterly announcement is due in October 2026, but its current reporting format does not promise model-level figures. Watch for manufacturer releases that disclose specific nameplate sales, and label each figure by period, geography, sales stage and variant scope. Until a consistent national series exists, an evidence table is more useful than a speculative ranking.
